Taiwan's Far EasTone, Tatung to Collaborate on WiMAX Base Station Deployment in Southern Taiwan

It was reported on June 10 that Taiwan's Far EasTone Telecommunications and Tatung Telecom have come to the decision to collaborate on deploying WiMAX base stations in southern Taiwan, according to Commercial Times of Taiwan. Tatung will be responsible for the establishment of WiMAX base stations in the area from Kaohsiung up to Tainan. The construction of WiMAX base stations in the area from northern Tainan up to Taichung will be in Far EasTone's charge. Also, it is projected that the two companies' related investments will thus be reduced from NT$10 billion (US$328.0 million; US$1=NT$30.5) to approximately NT$5 billion (US$164.0 million), respectively.
